5 Causes of headaches at the front and it's characteristics

If noticed, not all headache attacks cover the entire head. There are only felt next to, the back, top, and the front. This time we discuss the headache of the front, from the side of the cause and treatment. The frontal headache is defined as headache that tends to be more dominant in the forehead and temple. The front head is known as the frontal lobe.

There are many causes of headaches, and are often unrelated to the frontal brain itself. Rather it is caused by several factors and other diseases.

Here are 5 causes of the frontal headache and the characteristics and how to handle it:

1. Tension headache




A tense headache is the most common type of headache that usually begins with pain in the forehead or in the temple then feels thorough. The symptoms and features are as follows:

  • The dull and constant pain that can be felt throughout the head
  • Pain that often begins on the forehead, temples, or behind the eyes
  • The head, scalp, face, neck, and shoulder areas are more sensitive to painful pressure sensations, as if a belt is tightened around the head

The severity of this type of headache varies from mild to severe. Duration between 30 minutes to several hours, but can last for days. It can also happen on a few days in a month. Triggers of tension headaches include stress, anxiety, or depression. Sometimes due to fatigue, poor posture, or neck muscle problems.

 

How to deal with tension headache?

Massage for headaches

Over-the-counter painkillers, such as ibuprofen, acetaminophen (paracetamol), or aspirin can be relied upon to relieve pain. Coupled with the following tips:

  • Massage
  • Relaxation of the neck
  • A warm bath
  • Put a warm towel or compress on forehead or neck.

Another case when the headache feels so severe or persistent, let alone lasted more than 15 times a month, then it is considered chronic, and should consult a doctor.

2. Eyes tense

Eye strain can also cause headaches. Headaches caused by eye strain may feel similar to tension headache. This is usually caused by problems of vision or astigmatism that are not immediately corrected.

3. Cluster headache

Cluster headaches are rare, but can be very painful. Pain is usually felt on one side of the head, often around the eyes, temples, or forehead. These headaches usually begin without warning, and can last for several hours.

Nasal congestion

Other symptoms of cluster headache include:

  • Anxiety
  • Watery eyes
  • Nasal congestion
  • The nose is also watery

Cluster headaches can strike for weeks or months. Tends to happen around the same time, such as every day, night, or day. Unfortunately, the cause of cluster headache is not known for certain, but it is suspected to be hereditary. In addition, alcohol and smoking can also trigger an attack.

4. Sinus headache

  • Dull and throbbing pain
  • Pain that may be exacerbated by head movement

  • Nasal congestion

  • Tooth ache

Sinusitis usually occurs after a cold or flu, even often unconscious and eventually heal by itself. To reduce nasal congestion, can use a brine solution to clear the nostrils or inhale steam from a bowl of hot water.

 

How to deal with headaches due to sinusitis?

Treatment of sinusitis depends on the cause:

  • For allergies, doctors may recommend antihistamines.

5. Temporal arteritis

Temporal arteritis is a condition in which the blood vessels located on the outside of the head become inflamed. It is characterized by severe and recurrent headaches, pain especially around the temples. Other symptoms include:

  • Pain when chewing or talking
  • Loss of vision
  • Weight loss
  • Muscle ache
  • Depression
  • Fatigue

Temporal arteritis is rare in people under 50 years, but if it happens to be treated by a doctor as soon as possible. Treatment often involves corticosteroids, such as prednisolone.

 

Prevention and Treatment

Certain lifestyle changes can help prevent or reduce the frequency of headaches, as follows:

  • Get enough sleep. In addition to meeting the needs of sleep for 6 to 8 hours per night, try to sleep and wake up at regular times each day.
  • Physically active. Do sports several times a week, to reduce stress and stay in shape.
  • Good posture. When sitting, try to position the back properly supported. Avoid sitting in the same position for too long. Stretch and rest regularly from the desk and computer.
  • Moderate intake of caffeine. Too much caffeine can cause headaches. Similarly, when stopped suddenly, especially if previously been accustomed to consume caffeine in large quantities. So, slowly consume the consumption.
  • Drink plenty of water. Dehydration can cause headaches. Therefore enough fluid needs every day.
  • Avoid using painkillers. Treating headaches with pain relief for more than 15 days a month, it can cause headaches.
