5 Intake of Prostate Cancer Triggers

One health problem that men must watch out for is prostate cancer. Cancer that attacks the male vital organs can be caused by many things, from smoking habits, lazy to exercise, or even consumption of certain foods that have carcinogenic properties. Seeing this fact, it's good for men to begin to improve their lifestyle to be healthier, especially in terms of routine exercise, avoiding smoking, maintaining sleep patterns, and starting to reduce food intake which can increase the risk of prostate cancer.

Prostate cancer itself is actually a type of cancer that is in the top list of causes of death in men. Prostate cancer is caused by changes in the cells in the prostate gland to become malignant cells that cause the prostate to enlarge, harden, and bump.

The prostate gland is one of the glands that play a role in the male reproductive system. One of its functions is to remove alkaline fluids that can neutralize acidic vaginal fluids, so that sperm can survive.

Epidemiologically, cases of prostate cancer do occur in men over the age of 50 years. However, it does not rule out this health problem that can occur in men under the age of 45 years.

Foods that trigger prostate cancer

Cancer triggers can indeed vary, such as lifestyle and offspring. However, some types of food and drinks can also trigger the growth of prostate cancer cells. These foods and drinks include:

1. Alcohol

Alcohol is one of the causes of cancer. Besides prostate cancer, alcohol is known to cause other cancers.

Indeed, excessive alcohol consumption is not recommended. For those of you who are already dependent on this drink, it's better to stop consuming it. Alcohol can not only trigger cancer cells but can also trigger other diseases besides cancer.

2. Processed meat and red meat

Processed meat is also susceptible to triggering cancer. The meat in question is for example nuggets and corned beef. In addition, excessive consumption of red meat is also known to trigger the same condition, namely the onset of prostate cancer.

3. Soda drinks

Although no studies have specifically shown that soda can trigger prostate cancer, this type of beverage is prone to other types of cancer. A study in Singapore published in the journal Cancer Epidemiology explained that those who consumed soft drinks more than twice a week were at risk of developing pancreatic gland cancer.

In addition, the coloring agent in soda - 4-methylimidazole (4-MEI) - has the potential to trigger cancer. A study also explained that 4-MEI substances that cause caramel color in soft drinks can trigger the emergence of blood cancer (leukemia) and lung cancer.

So far, various scientific studies are still being conducted to find out the exact relationship between soda and cancer, especially prostate cancer.

4. Milk

Milk is widely known as a drink that is rich in nutrients good for the health of the body. Unfortunately, excessive consumption of milk can reduce the levels of male body protective molecules from the development of prostate cancer cells named 1,25 dihydroxy vitamin D3.

5. Zinc supplement

In the results of the study published in the journal entitled Novel Role of Zinc in the Regulation of Prostate Citrate Metabolism and Its Implication in Prostate Cancer, it is known that consumption of supplements containing 100 mg of zinc every day increases the risk of prostate cancer.

Prevent with tomatoes

Some types of intake described above are prone to trigger prostate cancer. But there are many foods that are actually rich in nutrients and good for health and use as a shield from cancer. Tomatoes are one of them.

The content in tomatoes, namely lycopene is a powerful antioxidant group. Eating tomatoes can also be done easily such as by eating it directly - like for vegetables - or processing it as juice.

These antioxidants can prevent the formation of free radicals which lead to the formation of cancer cells. Researchers have tried to prove this and the results are promising.

Men who are diligent in consuming tomatoes are shown to have a smaller risk of prostate cancer compared to those who rarely eat tomatoes. In addition, lycopene in tomatoes is also proven to help slow the growth of cancer cells and protect healthy prostate cells from damage.

However, until now it is still unknown how much consumption of tomatoes is right for preventing prostate cancer. However, there is nothing wrong if you start consuming tomatoes every day in portions that are not excessive because this fruit is indeed beneficial to the body.

The prevention of prostate cancer can actually be done early. One of them is by avoiding the risk factors, such as not eating food and drinks that can trigger cancer cells. In addition to maintaining food intake, you must also carry out a healthy and regular lifestyle, for example by exercising regularly, not smoking, and managing stress well.
