Benefits of Drinking Ginger for Health

Ginger and its preparations - one of which is ginger water - have been known for a long time. Especially in the rainy season or winter, ginger water is often consumed to warm the body while increasing body power. In essence, the benefits of drinking ginger water for health are nothing new.

Ginger does have a distinctive aroma. This rhizome is also anti-inflammatory and acts as an antioxidant in the body. In a study published in the journal Pain Medicine in 2015, consuming drinks made from natural ginger powder for several days can help relieve menstrual pain.

There are more benefits besides being able to relieve menstrual pain. Ginger drinks can also be used to relieve migraines and increase milk production in nursing mothers.

Not only that, but there are also studies that say that ginger can be used to help the diet. This herb acts as an appetite suppressant so you are not easily tempted to eat too much

A study published in The Journal of Pain in 2010 even mentioned that consumption of raw ginger can reduce pain after exercise. More than that, ginger is also often used to help relieve symptoms of sore throat. According to doctors and nutritionists from the Center for Internal and Integrative Medicine in Alpharetta, Dr. Eddie Fatakhov, ginger is actually similar to the family of Capsicum aka chili, which is also able to relieve pain.

Consumed raw better

One compound that is responsible for all the properties offered by ginger is gingerol. This is a strong anti-inflammatory agent, so it can relieve all inflammation and pain that is felt by the body.

When ginger is processed or cooked, the gingerol turns into a zingerone. The compound can still relieve inflammation and body aches, but its ability is not as strong as when it is still raw (gingerol). So, when you want to help relieve abdominal pain, menstrual pain, or sore throat, it is better if ginger is consumed while still fresh.

However, if you want to keep processing it, what you can do is make an herbal tea by boiling or adding grated ginger to cold water. If you want to get a better taste, try using honey and lemon. Because, a mixture of ginger, honey and lemon is a good combination in terms of taste and usefulness.

In addition to having benefits for menstruation, ginger can also be drunk to treat various health complaints.

The following are various health benefits that you can get if you diligently drink ginger water.
