Benefits of Long Beans on Breast Size and Glucose Levels

Long beans are one type of vegetable that is familiar. Apart from containing many nutrients, the benefits of long beans are also related to breast size and glucose levels. Long beans have the Latin name Vigna unguiculata sesquipedalis soup and are vegetables that are commonly grown in warm temperate regions, such as countries in South and Southeast Asia.

What are the Benefits of Long Beans?

The benefits of many long beans come from minerals and vitamins contained in them. Among them are vitamin A, thiamin, riboflavin, niacin, panthothenic acid, vitamin B6, folic acid and vitamin C. Meanwhile, a row of minerals contained in long beans are calcium, iron, magnesium, manganese, phosphorus, potassium and sodium .

What are the nutritional values contained in long beans?

In a serving of 100 grams of beans, it contains 47 calories, 4 grams of sodium (0% daily recommendation value), 8 grams of total carbohydrate (2% daily value), and 3 grams of protein (5% of daily recommendations). Fresh long beans are one of the best sources of folate. Per 100 grams of beans contains 62 mg or 15% of the total daily requirement of folate. Folate coupled with vitamin B12 is one of the important components of DNA synthesis and cell division.

In addition, fresh beans also contain a series of antioxidants that are important for the body, such as vitamin C, riboflavin, and beta-carotene. Long beans contain enough vitamin C to meet 31 percent of your daily needs, which is around 19 milligrams. Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant that dissolves in water, and when your vitamin C intake is fulfilled, it helps strengthen the immune system to fight infection and maintain blood vessel elasticity.




Long beans are also an excellent source of vitamin A. In 100 grams of beans contain 865 IU of vitamin A (16% of daily needs), and this amount is more than other legume families such as lima beans and string beans. Vitamin A plays a role in maintaining the strength of the inner skin tissue, brightening skin tone, and sharpening the quality of night vision.

Not only is it rich in essential nutrients and vitamins, long beans also provide you with sufficient amounts of some minerals that are good for the body, such as iron, copper, manganese, calcium, magnesium and phosphorus.

Based on research, there are several benefits of long beans that are good for health:

  • Has the possibility of increasing the size of the breast

A study tries to prove the notion that has been believed so far regarding the benefits of long beans to enlarge the breasts. Based on these studies, this might happen considering long beans contain phytoestrogens which are natural estrogens found in plants. The compounds included in phytoestrogens include flavonoids (flavones, flavonols, flavanones, isoflavones, and anthocyanidins), coumestants, lignans, and stilbene.

The presence of phytoestrogens in long beans apparently can stimulate the growth of epithelial cells in the breast if they are joined by estrogen receptors. This process is called estrogenic effect. The estrogenic effect occurs because breast epithelial cells are very responsive to estrogen, which in turn can trigger breast development.

  • Lowering glucose levels

Another study was conducted in an effort to find out the potential benefits of long beans to reduce glucose or blood sugar levels. The study was carried out by extracting long bean seeds to be analyzed scientifically on the antihyperglycemic and antinociceptive properties it has. However, research on the antihiperglycemic activity of long beans is still limited to testing with glucose tolerance tests orally in animals. There is no clinical evidence regarding this effect in humans, so further research is still needed.

Although the potential benefits of legumes medically still require further research, long beans have long been used in everyday life. Including for serving food, as green vegetables or just by taking the seeds when they are ripe.
