Causes of stuffy nose and easy tips to overcome it

  • Acute sinusitis

Acute sinusitis usually develops because of a cold cough. This condition can actually heal by itself within 10 days. Those are the things that cause nasal congestion.

  • Allergy

When allergy sufferers exposed by substances that cause allergies (allergens), then the body will react. Various things can happen due to allergic reactions. In allergic rhinitis, respiratory disorders occur, in which the production of mucus in the nasal cavity may increase, leading to sneezing or runny reactions.   • Antihistamines

Antihistamines, a treatment for allergies and help reduce nasal congestion complaints.

  • Decongestants

The nature of this substance is to help reduce swelling of the nose due to conditions that cause nasal congestion. In addition, decongestants are available in the form of oral or drinking drugs and nasal decongestants sprayed into the nose. Nasal spray works faster than drinking drugs, so the effects can be felt immediately.

Treat Stuffy Nose with Nasal Spray and Nasal decongestants

Nasal spray medication is a way of overcoming a stuffy nose with a liquid sprayed onto the nose. This method is done to make the inside of the nose become more moist, so that the mucus becomes more dilute. Furthermore, the nose will feel more relieved.

The liquid used to spray the nose may be a salt solution. Although it has been proven to be used to help relieve nasal congestion, you are advised to consult a doctor before making this solution to spray the nose. It is related to the right and safe dosage.

Nasal decongestant: Oxymetazoline. This drug content serves to reduce the dilation of blood vessels in the nose, thereby reducing the blockage of the nose. Oxymetazoline can work on clogged noses caused by various causes, such as cough, cold, flu, allergies, and sinusitis.

How to use a decongestant nasal containing oxymetazoline is quite easy and the effect is faster than drinking medicine. Spray to one of the nostrils by closing the other nostrils. Position the head upright. Spray while breathing. Keep the liquid from spraying to the eyes. Do it on the other nostrils. After that, clean the tip of the spray bottle with warm water, then dry. Store in a dry place and avoid direct sun exposure.

Do not use too often. Its use is recommended only twice a day, every 10-12 hours. Note also the long usage. This drug should not be used for more than three days continuously.

In addition to the above drugs, there are several ways you can do to help relieve nasal congestion, namely:

  • Drink more fluids, so the thickness of mucus in the nose will decrease.
  • Breathe in warm water vapor.
  • The bath uses warm water.
  • Wash your face with a warm towel.
  • Avoid swimming in pools containing chlorine.
  • Try to elevate the position of the head by placing an extra pillow under the head and neck in such a way that looks half-seated position.

Various ways above can be done to help reduce symptoms of nasal congestion.
