Causes of swollen lymph nodes

Lymph nodes are responsible for producing immune cells that function as "protection" of the body. However, there are a number of conditions that cause over-production of immune cells, so that swollen lymph nodes appear as side effects.

Swollen lymph nodes are conditions that cause the gland to enlarge as a reaction to abnormalities that occur in the body. Lymph nodes are found in many parts of the body, including the chin, armpit, back of the ear, neck, groin, and the back of the head.

The appearance of swelling in this gland can be accompanied by symptoms, such as pain when touched or when making small movements. This condition can also interfere with daily activities, such as swollen lymph nodes in the chin causing a person to be difficult to chew and swallow food.

Besides pain, this condition usually also triggers various symptoms. But of course, the symptoms that appear can be different from one person to another. This is related to the location of the appearance of swelling and the severity of the disease. However, there are some symptoms that are common and can occur as a sign of swollen lymph nodes. Such as fever, drastic weight loss, loss of appetite, sore throat, night sweats, and cold.




If you encounter these symptoms accompanied by the appearance of a lump that doesn't go away after two weeks, then see a doctor immediately. Swollen lymph glands usually trigger hard-textured lumps that don't move when shaken.

Causes of lymph node swelling

There are many factors that can cause swollen lymph nodes. Ranging from mild infections, to chronic diseases such as lymph cancer. To be clearer, let's find out what are the causes of swollen lymph nodes!

Infection

The most frequent triggers for swollen lymph nodes are infections, such as ear infections, sore throat, and measles. In addition, HIV and tuberculosis can also trigger lymph nodes to swell. Usually, the type of virus that infects is related to the location of the swollen gland.

Fever

Many diseases that cause symptoms of fever. However, in lymphoma patients, fever that occurs is usually not too high, which is around 37 degrees Celsius and never more than 38 degrees Celsius. Fever will also disappear.

Autoimmune Disease

This is a disease that occurs when the body's immune system attacks and causes disease. In fact, under normal circumstances the immune system should play a role to protect the body from virus attacks that cause diseases that can be harmful to the body. Autoimmune diseases related to swollen lymph nodes are rheumatoid arthritis and lupus.

Cancer

Swelling of the lymph nodes can also occur due to cancer. Usually, this condition is related to nasopharyngeal cancer or lymphoma.

Use of drugs

Swollen lymph nodes can also occur as a body reaction or side effects from consumption of certain types of drugs. The use of drugs, such as anticonvulsants and typhus vaccines is often associated with swelling that occurs in the lymph nodes.

The stomach feels full

Other symptoms, namely the stomach feels painful or uncomfortable. Besides that it also feels full in the stomach. If some of these symptoms appear continuously, you should immediately see a doctor.

If you experience this condition, you should be sure to always consult a doctor. Because the treatment for swollen lymph glands can differ from one person to another depending on the cause and location of the swelling that occurs.
