Foods that contain high gas

Many factors make you experience flatulence, belching, and frequent flue gas. One reason is to consume foods that contain gas. Although relatively normal, but if there is too much gas in the body, it can cause discomfort and embarrassment when flushing in a public place.

In general, gas that comes out of the body, does not or only smells a little. Dispose of gas with a pungent odor generally occurs when bacteria from the intestine release sulfur content. The possibility of excessive gas is caused by the small intestine not having enough lactase enzymes to process incoming food.

Various Foods High in Gas Content

Most foods that contain high carbohydrates generally can cause a lot of gas production in the digestive tract. Meanwhile, foods containing fat and protein produce less gas.

Although each person is different in processing food that enters the body, there are some foods that generally produce a lot of gas in the digestive tract, namely:




Starchy food

Starchy or starchy foods generally contain high carbohydrates which can cause the digestive tract to produce excess gas when starch is broken down into energy. Types of high-gas foods such as bread, cereals and pasta.

Peanuts

Peanuts are the food that produces the highest gas because it contains a lot of raffinose, which is a complex sugar that makes it difficult for the body to digest it. Rafinosa is what produces hydrogen, carbon dioxide, and methane gas, which comes out through the rectum. So that it causes more gas.

Vegetables

Many types of vegetables that contain gas. Among these are asparagus, broccoli, cabbage, mushrooms, and onions, which contain natural sugars called fructose. Just like raffinose, fructose contributes to gas production when bacteria in the intestine digest it.

Grains

Grains such as wheat contain fiber, raffinose, and starch. All three can contribute to gas after digestion in the large intestine. Except for rice, the only grain that does not cause gas production.

Dairy products

Lactose is a sugar found in milk and most dairy products, including cheese and ice cream. In someone who has lactose intolerance, consumption of this type of product can cause increased gas production in the gastrointestinal tract.

Fruit

Apples, pears and plums are a type of fruit that contains natural alcoholic sugar and sorbitol, making it difficult for the body to digest. This type of fruit can also produce hydrogen, carbon dioxide, and methane gas, after being digested by the intestine.

Oatmeal

Although oatmeal is a good and healthy breakfast choice, it is included in gas-containing foods. This happens because oatmeal contains starch, rafinose sugar, and also high soluble fiber. But these side effects generally vary for everyone.

Chewing gum and smoking can also cause the body to over gas, because it can make more air ingested. In addition, many sugar-free gum are given artificial sweeteners, such as sorbitol, mannitol, and xylitol. Though these artificial sweeteners are more difficult to digest.

After you recognize a variety of gas-containing foods, you should start limiting these types of foods in the daily diet. Especially if you feel uncomfortable because of excess gas in the body. It is recommended to consume more fiber to support digestive health. Consult further treatment with the doctor if the complaint is more disturbing.
