High uric acid does require treatment from a doctor, but to support this treatment, there are several natural gout remedies that you can try at home. Natural gout remedy is believed to help relieve symptoms while reducing uric acid levels in the body.

Gout is a type of inflammatory disease in the joints. This disease can occur suddenly and cause pain and swelling in the joints.

Gout can attack any part of the joint in the body. However, this condition is more common in joints at the tips of the toes and fingers, wrists, and knees.

The administration of drugs aims to relieve symptoms and prevent the risk of gout recurrence. The types of drugs that doctors usually prescribe are colchicine and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).

Besides, doctors can also provide drugs to reduce high uric acid levels. Examples of these drugs that reduce uric acid levels are allopurinol, rasburicase, and probenecid.

Gout sufferers are also encouraged to change their lifestyle, such as regular exercise and lose weight when obese. In addition to drugs and living a healthy lifestyle, there are several natural remedies to treat gout, including:

1. Fruits and vegetables that are rich in vitamin C

Some studies show that fruits and vegetables that are rich in vitamin C can reduce high uric acid levels. The types of fruit that are recommended for gout sufferers are guava, orange, kiwi, mango, papaya, pineapple, and watermelon. Meanwhile, vegetables for gout sufferers that are rich in vitamin C are spinach, cauliflower, broccoli, potatoes, tomatoes, and paprika.

2. Coffee

The next natural remedy for gout is coffee. Although its properties are still being investigated, coffee is known to contain minerals, polyphenols, and caffeine which can increase purine metabolism into gout and improve the process of uric acid removal through urine. It can also prevent gout from settling and damaging bones and joints.

Therefore, coffee consumption can be a natural remedy to help reduce uric acid levels. It's just that, if you have a history of stomach ulcers or acid reflux disease, this method might not be possible because the consumption of coffee can increase stomach acid production.

3. Ginger

Ginger is a plant that is widely used to add flavor to cooking and has many health benefits. One of the benefits of ginger is as a natural remedy for gout.

Because it has anti-inflammatory properties, ginger is believed to relieve pain and discomfort due to swelling due to gout.

To overcome gout you can mix one tablespoon of grated ginger in warm water. Then, compress the parts of your body that experience symptoms of gout with a towel or cloth that has been soaked with water for 15 to 30 minutes.

You can also consume 2 to 3 cups of ginger tea per day to reduce pain due to gout.

4. Turmeric

Not only used as a spice in the kitchen, but turmeric is also often used to overcome various health conditions, such as gout. This is thanks to the content of curcumin in turmeric as an anti-inflammatory that can overcome joint pain due to gout.

5. Mineral water

Besides being good to meet the needs of body fluids so as not to be dehydrated, water is also good for removing excess uric acid from the body.

By increasing drinking water, the body will produce more urine. This will make more uric acid wasted through urine, so it does not accumulate in the body.

6. Activated Carbon

Activated Carbon (Activated Charcoal) can absorb uric acid; therefore, it can be safely used for the treatment of gout.

Mix half a cup of charcoal powder with water to form a paste. Put pasta in the tub and add more water. Soak the body parts affected by uric acid for at least half an hour. This natural gout remedy is a good solution for gout in the ankle joint or leg area.

7. Apple Cider Vinegar

Besides being known to help overcome headaches and stomach acid, apple cider vinegar, can also be used to treat gout and rheumatism. The acidity in apple cider vinegar will help reduce acute pain. Honey can also be added to enhance the anti-inflammatory response due to inflammation.

In addition to some of the above natural remedies, gout can also be prevented by consuming milk or milk products, such as yogurt, which are low in fat.

Well, now you already know what are the natural cures for gout. Although believed to be able to overcome gout, but a variety of natural remedies are still needed further research to find out its effectiveness in general.
