Behind the spicy taste, there are various benefits of chili for health. This benefit can be obtained because chili contains various kinds of important nutrients that the body needs.

Chili is still a family with peppers and tomatoes. Most of these species are known by the scientific name Capsicum annuum. There are several types of chili that we usually encounter, namely cayenne pepper and jalapenos (green and red chili). Then, what will we get from chilies?

Although the shape is not large, as the saying goes "small chili", it turns out chili has a variety of vitamins and minerals, such as:

  • High vitamin C content. Vitamin C functions as an antioxidant that is good for strengthening the body's immune system.
  • Vitamin B6 found in chili has an important role in the body's metabolism.
  • Vitamin K6 affects blood clotting and bone and kidney health.
  • Potassium can reduce the risk of heart disease.
  • Copper is a residual antioxidant element that has a function for the health of strong neurons and bones.
  • Beta carotene is found in red chili, and when it enters the body, beta carotene is converted into vitamin A
  • Chili is very high in antioxidant carotenoids, so it is very useful for a variety of body health.
  • Capsanthin is the most important type of carotenoids in red chili, and even more than 50 percent of the total carotenoids are found to be beneficial for fighting cancer.
  • Violaxanthin is the most common carotenoid antioxidant found in yellow chili.
  • Lutein found in green chili can affect eye health. Try to consume immature green chilies, because lutein is found abundantly, the more it ripens, the lower the maturity level.
  • Capsaicin functions to give a sense of heat, allegedly providing various health effects for the body, it can also handle various diseases such as nerve fiber disorders, pain due to arthritis, psoriasis, and diabetic neuropathy.
  • Synaptic aid is an antioxidant, and also as an anticancer.
  • Ferulic acid is an antioxidant that functions to prevent chronic diseases.

If consumed naturally, the benefits of chili that can be obtained include:




1. Overcoming a stuffy nose

Consuming foods that contain chili can help relieve nasal congestion. But, don't take it excessively if you don't want to get a stomach ache and experience diarrhea.

2. Relieves pain

The capsaicin content in chili is able to relieve pain, so it is often included in ointments or creams to relieve muscle and joint pain. You may feel a sensation of heat when applying an ointment or cream containing capsaicin, but the pain of the muscles and joints that you feel can be reduced.

 3. Improve body immunity

The content of vitamin C contained in chili is useful for increasing body immunity. In addition, vitamin C is also known to be good for skin health.

4. Reducing the risk of developing heart disease

Although it still needs further investigation, the capsaicin content found in chili is believed to be able to reduce cholesterol levels and prevent blockage of blood vessels that cause heart disease.

5. Prevent cancer

The carotenoid content in chili has antioxidant properties, so it can fight cancer-causing cells. However, further research needs to be done regarding the role of chili in fighting cancer cells.

6. Burn body fat

Consuming enough chili can help you lose weight. This is because the capsaicin content found in chili can increase the burning of calories and fat in the body.

7. Extends life

Research shows that people who eat spicy food at least once a week tend to have a longer life.

For those of you who feel spiciness after eating foods containing chili, it is advisable to drink milk or eat starchy foods, such as bread, to relieve spicy taste.
