From there, it can be seen that four cups of coffee a day is enough to help protect the occurrence of cell death and improve the process that helps the organs to recover after a heart attack.

The study has involved a variety of objects, such as rats, prediabetes, and obesity. Researchers claim that the epidemiological study has involved about 400,000 participants.

"The results of the study should lead to better strategies to protect the heart muscle from damage, including consideration of coffee or caffeine consumption as an additional dietary factor in the elderly population," said a researcher from the IUF-Leibniz Research Institute for Environmental Medicine in Duesseldorf, Judith Haendeler .

Do not stop there, Haendeler also explained that the increase in mitochondria due to caffeine in coffee can serve as a potential therapeutic strategy. According to him, this does not apply only to the heart, but other important organs.

Another study in Korea compared adults who drank coffee with those who did not. The study, people who drank 3 to 5 cups of coffee daily had a lower risk of having calcium deposits in their coronary arteries. This condition is one indicator of heart disease. If you skip the Biology class during school, coronary arteries are the vessels that carry oxygenated blood to the heart muscles. So just imagine if this vessel is blocked.

It is Guallar and his colleagues at Samsung Kangbuk Hospital, Seoul, South Korea that analyzes more than 25,000 men and women where they are regularly checked for a certain period of time. These participants have absolutely no signs of heart disease before.

According to Guillar the researcher, "A person may have heart disease for many years even if he does not see the symptoms." Therefore the proper method to use for this study is to perform a technique called computed tomography scan, which is scan to find out what level of arterial calcium coronary (CAC) of a person. With this technique, we can know whether the person is potentially heart disease or not, even if they have no symptoms.

The researchers then compared the CAC levels of those who drank coffee with those who did not. The result, people who drank at least 3 to 5 cups of coffee a day had 40% less calcium in their coronary arteries than those who did not. On the other hand, the same study also found that people who drank only one cup of coffee each day had 23% less calcium in their coronary arteries.
