Tomatoes contain the substance lycopene which is a powerful antioxidant. These antioxidants can prevent the formation of free radicals that lead to the formation of cancer cells. Researchers have tried to prove this and the results are quite promising.

Men who consume lots of tomatoes, the risk of prostate cancer is smaller than those who rarely eat tomatoes. In addition, in patients who have had prostate cancer, lycopene in tomatoes can help slow the growth of cancer cells and protect prostate cells that are still normal from damage.

How many tomatoes must be consumed to prevent prostate cancer is not known with certainty. However, it doesn't hurt if you start eating tomatoes every day because overall it is beneficial for the body.

Another thing to note is how to eat tomatoes. Lycopene is tightly bound to the cell wall, making it difficult for the body to digest if you eat whole tomatoes.   • Boil and stir until thickened and into half porridge.

Another way to avoid the prostate

Besides eating tomatoes, the following can also keep you from the risk of prostate cancer:

  • Maintaining an ideal body weight. Being overweight and obese is one of the risks of cancer, including prostate cancer. Keep your body weight ideal with regular physical activity and adjusting your diet.
  • Eat low-fat high-fiber. Men who consume lots of saturated fats, such as those from meat, milk, cheese, and ready-to-eat foods, are at higher risk of developing prostate cancer. Limit food intake and increase consumption of fiber such as fruits and vegetables.
  • Quit smoking. Cigarettes are an enemy to the body. Most substances in cigarettes are carcinogenic (can cause cancer). If you are a man and a smoker, it's time to turn off your cigarette smoke.
  • Exercise hard. The risk of prostate cancer will decrease if you are diligent in exercising. Do it 3-5 times per week for 30 minutes to feel the benefits.
