Consumption of tomatoes as prevention of prostate cancer

Tomatoes contain the substance lycopene which is a powerful antioxidant. These antioxidants can prevent the formation of free radicals that lead to the formation of cancer cells. Researchers have tried to prove this and the results are quite promising.

Men who consume lots of tomatoes, the risk of prostate cancer is smaller than those who rarely eat tomatoes. In addition, in patients who have had prostate cancer, lycopene in tomatoes can help slow the growth of cancer cells and protect prostate cells that are still normal from damage.

How many tomatoes must be consumed to prevent prostate cancer is not known with certainty. However, it doesn't hurt if you start eating tomatoes every day because overall it is beneficial for the body.

Another thing to note is how to eat tomatoes. Lycopene is tightly bound to the cell wall, making it difficult for the body to digest if you eat whole tomatoes. For maximum benefits, tomatoes should be processed first so that lycopene is released and easily absorbed by the body. You can take it by being juiced, made pasta, or mixed in soup.

How to pick the benefits of tomatoes to prevent prostate cancer?

According to nutrition experts said that the tomatoes that are boiled for a long time to become half a slurry provide the best source of lycopene. This slurry can be consumed regularly and helps prevent prostate cancer cell growth.

Why must it be boiled? The boiling process will help lycopene to surface. Lycopene itself is actually in the core of tomatoes, it must be forced out by boiling.

Indeed, if boiled in the content of vitamin C, beta-carotene and others will disappear. However, tomatoes become special because the lycopene content appears. While vitamins and beta-carotene alone can be obtained from other vegetables and fruits.

How to boil the correct tomatoes:

  • Wash 2-3 red tomatoes that will be made into porridge.
