Reduce Cancer Risk by Consuming These Foods and Beverages

Certain foods and drinks have benefits that are very good for health. Some of them can even reduce the risk of cancer. Let's find out more about what types of foods and drinks can reduce the risk of cancer!

However, despite not finding a cure, scientists in the past few decades have found certain ways to suppress and reduce the chances of humans getting cancer.

Some types of foods and drinks are known to reduce cancer risk. These foods and drinks are highly recommended, especially for those of you who often consume food and beverages with additional chemicals, such as coloring, flavoring, and artificial preservatives.

Foods and Drinks That Can Reduce Cancer Risk

Foods and beverages to reduce the risk of cancer are actually similar to the recommended intake of a healthy diet, namely fruit, vegetables, and whole grains. These foods are low in fat and calories, but rich in antioxidants that help reduce cancer risk.




However, some types of foods and drinks have higher antioxidant levels, so it is good to reduce the risk of cancer:

1. Broccoli

Broccoli contains sulforaphane which is believed to be useful as an anticancer agent. In a trial result, it was found that sulforaphane can reduce the size and number of breast cancer cells by 75%, and reduce the risk of developing colon cancer.

2. Garlic

Who would have thought, the content of garlic that smells distinctive can prevent the formation of cancer cells you know! Especially cancers that attack the digestive organs, such as stomach cancer, colon cancer, and esophageal cancer.

To get the maximum benefits of garlic, try to let the garlic peeled and cut off for 15-20 minutes before cooking. This method can activate enzymes in garlic and release compounds that can protect the body from cancer.

3. Turmeric

5. Fish with omega-3 fatty acids

Some types of fish, such as tuna and salmon, contain omega-3 fatty acids which can reduce the risk of prostate cancer. By consuming at least 2 servings of fatty fish per week, you get one dose of omega-3 fatty acids and vitamin D to help prevent cancer.

6. Tomato

The red color in tomatoes shows that these vegetables contain lycopene, which can reduce the risk of prostate cancer. Add two tomatoes a day in your daily menu. You can serve tomatoes as fresh vegetables when eating fried chicken, making it a mixture of chili sauce, or processing it with green vegetables into dishes.

7. Green tea

A cup of green tea contains 100-200 milligrams of anticancer ingredients, namely antioxidants and epigallocatechin-3 gallate. Both of these compounds are believed to reduce the risk of cancer.

No less important, just complete your daily nutritional needs. Prioritize nutrients from fresh fruits and vegetables, rather than nutrients from supplements. Besides being unnatural, some supplements are even thought to increase the risk of cancer. So if the nutritional intake of food alone is not enough and you want to supplement it from supplements, consult your doctor first!
