Signs of Blood Deficiency You Don't Know

Often feel tired and dizzy, even though they are not doing heavy physical activity. Be careful, this could be a sign of lack of blood. Blood deficiency or anemia is a condition that occurs because the body does not have enough red blood cells to carry oxygen throughout the body.

There are various types of amenia, ranging from iron deficiency anemia, vitamin deficiency anemia, anemia caused by pregnancy, and aplastic anemia. However, anemia most often suffered by some people is iron deficiency anemia. This condition occurs when the body lacks iron needed to produce red blood cells.

Patients with iron deficiency anemia will generally experience symptoms of fatigue, dizziness, difficulty concentrating, headaches, tingling, pale skin, cold hands and feet, reduced appetite, and heart palpitations.

In fact, many people who still do not realize that they experience lack of blood and consider these symptoms are not a sign of lack of blood.




Various Signs of Blood Deficiency

Apart from fatigue, pale appearance, headache, dizziness, and heart palpitations, there are signs of blood loss that are rarely known in general, namely:

Frequent infection

The spleen is one of the organs that helps fight infection. If the body lacks red blood cells, it can reduce the supply of oxygen to the spleen. Therefore, the spleen cannot work optimally in preventing infection.

In addition to the spleen, organs that also play a role in fighting infection are lymph nodes. This organ is the place where white blood cells as a shield against infection. If the body lacks iron, the supply of oxygen to the lymph nodes becomes reduced, so that it cannot produce white blood cells to the fullest. As a result, the body becomes easier to get an infection. This is where the role of iron in supporting the immune system.

Hair loss

Hair loss of 100 strands per day is still considered normal. However, if hair loss occurs excessively and makes the hair not grow back, there is a possibility that you experience iron deficiency.

When the body lacks iron, the supply of oxygen to the hair follicles decreases, making the scalp dry and weak. This condition triggers excessive hair loss and makes the hair stop growing. But don't worry, because when iron is fulfilled and you are free of blood loss, hair can generally grow back.

Swollen tongue

Lack of blood can make the organs in the whole body will experience lack of oxygen. This condition can cause the muscles throughout the body to experience swelling, including the tongue muscles. If this happens, the tongue will become swollen and painful. In addition to swollen tongue, lack of blood can also cause the mouth and lips to become dry and cracked.

Restless leg syndrome

Iron deficiency can cause sufferers to experience restless leg syndrome or restless legs. In this syndrome, there are vibrations that radiate in the legs, a kind of electricity. This makes sufferers have the urge to keep moving their feet like someone who is nervous.

In order for you not to experience blood loss and eventually cause the things above, fill your daily iron needs. One way is to prioritize iron intake from daily food. For anemia caused by certain diseases, this condition needs to be examined by a doctor so that it can be treated according to the cause.
