Simple Tips for Curing Lumps on the Eyelid

Eyelid bumps can be experienced by anyone. Although some lumps in the eye are classified as harmless. However, you should know how to cure eyelid bumps properly, so as not to interfere with your daily vision and appearance.

Lumps in the eyelids are also known as hordeolum. This condition usually results from a bacterial infection that attacks the glands in the eye. Though lumps in the eyelids can also be kalazion, which is a cyst-like lump that occurs due to fluid buildup in the eyelids.

How to Cure Lumps on the Eyelid

Here are the steps to cure the eyelid lumps that you can do at home:

1. Clean the eye area

Basically, lumps occur because of the presence of dirt or foreign objects that stick to the eyelids. So, clean the area around the eyelids. Take a cotton ball or a clean cloth, then dip it in warm water and clean it. You can do a gentle massage while cleaning the area.

Repeat this method at least 3-4 times a day. Make sure you wash your hands first and the cotton ball is clean. Do the same for lumps caused by kalazion to prevent buildup of dirt in the eye area.

2. Avoid squeezing bumps

Hold yourself not to squeeze the lump, let alone aim to remove the liquid in it. This will only make the condition of the bump on the eyelid get worse. In fact, it can aggravate infection and spread germs to the other eye. In addition, this can also cause permanent scars.

3. Use an antibiotic ointment

Apply an antibiotic ointment to a lump caused by a bacterial infection, according to the doctor's advice. This antibiotic ointment is useful for killing bacteria that cause lumps in the eye and helps relieve discomfort in the area.

How to use it is very easy, you only need to apply a little antibiotic ointment along the inside of the eyelid with lumps. Do the same for lumps caused by kalazion.

4. Compress with warm water

Warm water will help provide comfort to the eyes. Take a towel, then dip it in warm water. Squeeze, then paste the towel on the eyelid with lumps. Do it 3-4 times a day for 5 minutes. You can also compress using a tea bag that has been dipped in warm water instead of a towel.

5. Using salt water

Salt has a magnesium content which is effective in killing bacteria and reducing pain due to infection in the eyes of the eye. To use salt as a natural antiseptic, dissolve the salt in warm water and stir until smooth. Then dip a soft cloth or cotton swab in the brine solution and place it on the nodded eye like a compress. Let stand for 15 to 20 minutes and repeat until the nodules subside.

You can try to deal with the lumps in the eyelids in the ways above. However, home care is only temporary as an initial treatment. If the lump in the eyelid does not improve immediately, you are advised to consult an ophthalmologist immediately so that appropriate treatment can be given.
