The term sleeping mask or overnight mask began to be known since Korean cosmetics became more popular. According to the term, sleeping mask is a facial treatment used before going to bed. Then what's the difference between sleeping mask and night cream? What are the benefits?

As the name implies, sleeping masks can be used overnight. Simply apply it to your face before going to sleep, such as applying a night cream, then you are free to sleep without worrying about falling products. Sleeping mask is also known as sleeping pack and leave-on mask.




Difference Sleeping Mask and Night Cream

The sleeping mask's nutritional content is generally richer than night cream. However, the texture is not much different, namely cream or gel. After being applied to cleansed facial skin, wait 30 minutes before going to sleep so that the sleeping mask is absorbed by the skin and does not stick to the pillow or bedspread.

If the use of night cream is sufficiently applied until it is absorbed, the sleeping mask must be cleaned (washed with water) the next morning. In addition, unlike night creams that can be used every night, sleeping masks are recommended only to be used once or twice a week. However, this depends on the recommended usage listed on the product.

Although able to penetrate the skin deeper, there are sleeping mask parts that are not absorbed and stuck on the surface of the skin. Its function is to protect the skin from dust and dirt that can clog pores, while simultaneously locking up the active ingredients to work optimally.

Tips on Using a Sleeping Mask

If you want to get maximum results, of course sleeping masks must be used routinely and in accordance with the recommended products you use. Here are some tips for using a sleeping mask that you can apply!

  • Use a sleeping mask according to your skin type. For owners of dry skin, you should avoid sleeping mask products that contain fragrance, alcohol, tea tree oil, salicylic acid, and kaolin. For owners of sensitive skin, it is better to first consult with a doctor before choosing a face care product.
  • Use a sleeping mask in accordance with the recommended use. Some sleeping mask products are only recommended for use 1-3 times a week, but there are also sleeping mask products that can be used every day.
  • Sleeping mask is not a substitute for night cream, so if the night cream has entered your regular skin care, use a sleeping mask after night cream. Don't miss out on other routine care sequences starting with cleansing your face.
  • Sleeping on your back is the best sleeping position when using a sleeping mask. Sleeping on a slanted or prone position will allow the sleeping mask to attach to the pillow or the sheet mask-shaped sleeping mask will detach from the face. Even better if you use a sleeping mask that is easy to absorb on the skin.
  • Try to sleep at least 7-8 hours and sleep at 10 o'clock at night. The skin regeneration process runs optimally at 10 pm until 2 am.
