This accessory makes coffee lose benefits

Coffee is known to have a myriad of health benefits. According to a study from the University of Scranton, coffee is a very good source of antioxidants so drinking small amounts of coffee a day can reduce the risk of developing type 2 diabetes, Alzheimer's, even prostate cancer.

Not only delicious, coffee is also known to bring a lot of good to drinkers as long as consumed within reasonable limits. It's just that, usually coffee is never drunk "alone", in the sense that it is often accompanied by various "accessories" or additional aliases that are tailored to the tastes of the drinker. In fact, these additions can make coffee lose its benefits.

In fact, there have been many studies that show that the coffee content has health benefits. Starting from:

  • Increase levels of energy and intelligence
  • Reducing the risk of type 2 diabetes
  • Protect from Alzheimer's disease and dementia
  • Helps to lose weight
  • Treat depression and make you happier
  • Helps increase fiber intake
  • Extends life

However, to get various benefits of coffee optimally, there are requirements that need to be met.

Be careful if you often add this to your coffee

The mushrooming of coffee shops is in line with the increase in coffee variants offered. Apart from the classic black coffee, many other accessories are often added such as avocados, various flavors (vanilla, hazelnut, etc.), cream, sweetened condensation, whipped cream, chocolate powder, chocolate chips, and many more.

Now, you need to know some additional "accessories" that can actually make your coffee lose its benefits. From now on, avoid making mistakes in drinking coffee by adding this:

Boiling water

Maybe there are still many who do not know that the temperature of the water used to brew coffee should not boil. The maximum temperature is 70 degrees Celsius. Coffee is said to be "ripe" at this temperature. If what is used to brew is boiling water, then the coffee will "ripen".

Artificial sugar and sweetener

Some people prefer the coffee to be sweet, so sugar or other artificial sweeteners are often added according to taste. In fact, the additional use is widely known to have an impact on increasing blood sugar. If this continues in the long run, it can certainly increase the risk of diabetes later on.

Want a safer one? Today there are many other alternative ingredients to add sweetness to your coffee, such as cinnamon, palm sugar, or stevia.

Non-dairy creamer

Creamer is one of the popular ingredients added to coffee. We recommend that you avoid these ingredients. This is because the non-dairy creamer composition consisting of hydrogenated vegetable oil (or in other words artificial trans fat) and corn syrup, is the same as sugar and empty calories. Excessive use of these additives can increase the risk of accumulating fat and body blood sugar. Ultimately, this risk continues to increase the risk of arterial blockage, heart disease, and diabetes.

Artificial flavor enhancer

The development of food technology is now able to produce additional artificial flavor ingredients that can be used to create coffee drinks with different sensations. Examples are hazelnuts, peppermint, vanilla, caramel, and much more.

The artificial flavor mentioned above is generally composed of pure cane sugar and artificial dyes that produce flavored syrup. On the one hand, this artificial flavor displays the sensation of drinking coffee differently. But on the other hand, the sugar content that has been processed can result in an increase in blood sugar in the body. As a safer alternative, try natural ingredients such as pure vanilla powder, min leaves, or almond bean powder.

Coffee is indeed a drink that has its own pleasure and charm. However, consume it properly without the "accessories" mentioned above so that the coffee you savor does not lose its benefits. Don't just consume coffee just follow the trend, but the most important thing is to pick up the good benefits.
