Understanding Sinus Arrhythmia, Heart Disorders Without Symptoms

Sinus arrhythmia is a change in heart rhythm to be faster or slower. This condition is generally not dangerous and is not a sign of serious heart problems.

Sinus arrhythmia is closely related to sinus function which refers to the part of the heart called the sinoatrial node, the natural pacemaker found on the right side of the heart's wall. Sinus functions to control the rhythm of the human heart. Under normal conditions, the heart should have a stable sinus rhythm.

Most arrhythmias are not dangerous, but some can be serious or even life threatening. During arrhythmias, the heart may not be able to pump blood to the body adequately. Lack of blood flow can damage the brain, heart, and other organs.

Sinus Arrhythmia Rarely Causes Symptoms

Sinus arrhythmia is related to the heart and respiratory system. A person's heart rhythm will increase as he inhales and will decrease when he sighs. Sinus arrhythmia can occur in the form of sinus bradycardia or heart rhythm that becomes slow, which is below 60 times per minute, and sinus tachycardia or rapid heart rhythm, above 100 times per minute.

The cause of sinus arrhythmia is still unknown. Most sufferers also rarely complain about heart problems, as in other heart diseases. Although it can occur for no apparent reason, there are some things that can affect the onset of sinus arrhythmia.

For example, sinus bradycardia can occur in:

  • People who exercise regularly. With excellent physical condition, the heart generally does not need to work hard to pump blood throughout the body, so the heart rate tends to be slower.
  • People who are taking certain drugs, for example drugs for heart and blood vessel disease.
  • People with heart blockage, low blood sugar levels (hypoglycemia) or sleep apnea.

While sinus tachycardia can occur when a person:

  • Exercising, or doing heavy activities
  • Feeling spirit, pain, or anxiety
  • Have fever, hypoxia (lack of oxygen), excessive thyroid hormone production (hyperthyroidism)
  • Eat caffeine.

Sinus arrhythmia is generally known accidentally when the doctor performs an examination or diagnosis when the patient complains of a disturbance in the heart.

One medical procedure that can help doctors diagnose sinus arrhythmia is an electrocardiogram (ECG). This tool serves to read the heart's electrical signals, so that any abnormalities associated with heart rhythm can be detected.

How to Properly Handle Sinus Arrhythmia

Sinus arrhythmia is not a dangerous disease that requires special treatment. This condition is a sign or symptom of a physical condition that can occur normally due to various factors, although in some cases it may indicate heart disease.

The doctor will provide treatment if this condition is affected or occurs in conjunction with certain heart diseases. Handling efforts carried out depend on the type of heart disorder that causes sinus arrhythmia.

Sinus arrhythmia can generally go away on its own without special treatment. In many cases, patients with this condition can also live a normal life without feeling any interference with the heart. Even so, you should see a doctor if you feel other symptoms, such as shortness of breath, chest pain, dizziness, and fainting.

Sinus arrhythmia is not a condition to worry about. But if there are disturbing symptoms, you should consult a doctor. In addition, strive to maintain heart health, by exercising regularly and eating healthy and nutritious foods, such as green vegetables, oats, avocados, fish, or whole grains.
