Many factors are thought to trigger appendicitis, and one of them is food that causes appendicitis. So, what types of food can trigger this disease?

Disease appendicitis is an inflammation of the appendix or appendix. A person can suffer from appendicitis due to several factors, such as infection with worms or parasites, intestinal obstruction by feces, injury to the abdomen, and enlarged lymph nodes in the wall of the digestive tract.

Not only that, the consumption of certain types of food is also known to trigger inflammation in the appendix.

Some Foods That Cause Appendicitis

There are several types of foods that are thought to cause appendicitis, including:

1. Seed fruit

Eating fruits that contain seeds in them, such as grapes, oranges, and guava is thought to cause appendicitis. This is because the seeds of the fruit are difficult to digest by the intestines and can eventually clog the appendix.

However, that does not mean you should not eat these fruits at all. You can still eat fruit with seeds after removing the seeds first.

2. Spicy food

Spicy foods, such as chilies and peppers, are often cited as food causing appendicitis. This is because consuming too much spicy food can irritate the gastrointestinal tract, thus triggering appendicitis.

In some cases, doctors often find chili and paprika seeds during the appendix surgery process. This leads to the assumption that chili and paprika seeds are difficult to digest, causing blockage and inflammation of the appendix.

However, this has not been medically proven, due to the minimal number of cases of appendicitis due to chili seeds and paprika. However, you are still advised to limit the consumption of spicy foods, especially those containing chilies and paprika and their seeds.

3. Low-fiber foods

Meat and its processed products, such as meatballs and sausages, also have the potential to cause appendicitis. This is because the low fiber content in these foods can cause constipation and even trigger appendicitis.

To minimize the risk of appendicitis, you should limit the consumption of these foods or compensate with the consumption of vegetables.

4. Fast food

As with meat and processed products, fast food usually contains little or no fiber. Therefore, eating too much fast food can also trigger constipation which is one of the risk factors for appendicitis.

Those are some foods that cause appendicitis that you need to be aware of. But, you dont have to worry. As long as it is not consumed in excess, the various types of foods above will not make you directly suffer from appendicitis.

To prevent appendicitis can not only be done by limiting the consumption of foods that cause appendicitis. You still need to adopt a healthy lifestyle by getting enough water, eating vegetables and fruits, and exercising regularly
